I dont believe Mississippi has a statute on this very
issue. My guess would be that they can hold it for a
reasonable time. But I will defer to anyone else familiar
with relevant statutes or case law.

As for the separation issue, there is usually an employee
comment section. Feel free to write your version of facts
or mail an addendum to the separation report. Good luck!
