    time clocks are not required.

    you have to be paid for each hour of work (at least the
    minimum wage) and the appropriate overtime (for hours over 40
    in a week), and the employer must make/keep records of each
    employee's worktime, but "punching a clock" is not required.

    the employer is free to make/keep records anyway they choose
    as long as they have the necessary worktime information.
