    your state law controls the "pay day" rules, so you should
    contact your state labor department to determine the rules.

    for example, in california, employers with 1st-15th and 16th-
    end-of-month pay periods can pay on the 25th and 10th. so, if
    you're in california, it's probably not illegal.

    otherwise, the answer depends on your state's law.
