Post: Need Help

My boyfriend is 17. He will be 18 in July. His parents (mom
and stepdad) treat him like CRAP. His stepdad is a slimeball
and his mom just goes along with whatever he says. There is
a lot of verbal abuse and there has been physical abuse in
the past. My boyfriend has a place to go (his best friend's
parents offered to take him in). We have tried the whole DCF
and police thing, and they did absolutely NOTHING. Can he
leave or would he be considered a runaway? He has a safe
place to go and they would take over all finances as far as
he is concerned. He supports himself anyway - his parents
don't do anything for him.

By the way, we live in Florida where 18 is the legal adult age.
