Post: Work Permit

Posted by Mariano on 8/17/09

I have been in the US legally for 10 years with different
working visas. My visa expired last february but I did not
renew because I was going to get married in March with an
american wife, which I did. Now My wife is 8 month pregnant
and we still haven't applied for a green card because she
did not do her taxes for 2 years. I now really doubt she
will file taxes and I do not want to argue and fight with
her over this in this particular moment but I need to work
much more. I have a serious promise of a good job as soon
as I get a work permit. Can I apply for a work permit
before and do the taxes and application for green card
later? after the baby is born and things calm down a
    little?
