Post: Failure to provide heat / Chicago

Posted by linda on 6/10/06
I provided my landlord with both oral and written notice of no heat in my apartment and my intentions to deduct from the monthly rent should the issue not be resolved. I was without heat for 14 days in May and never received a response from the landlord. Does anyone know what the amount might be that reasonably reflects the reduced value of the premises and how much I may deduct? My rental unit is covered by the Chicago Residential Landlord and Tenant Ordinance.
