Post: No electricity

I just moved in to an apt. june 1 and found out that if i
use the microwave or any other heavy equipment, the
electricity goes off. i am not allowed to acess the
kitchen between 9pm and 8am, as per the lease, and this is
where the electricity switch is.
I live in new york and i am subletting from a tenant. do i
have any legal rights? i told the tenant and he sent me a
threatening message and said people have lived there for
more than 30 years and havent complained. He said i can't
move out until end of august cos i have to give 2 months
notice.
should i stick it out? thanks
