Dell - Inspiron 8300. Can't be beat. Wireless ready, very
    fast, reliable, you'll love it.

I bought the Inspiron 8200 a few months before the 8300 came
out. I got a free upgrade from Dell, they have been great
with support. Service people are not so great, but tech
support is excellent and the computers are awesome! I have
a dell desktop, too. Love it. Have had noooooo problems
with anything. I use my laptop 10 to 12 hours per day, 7
    days per week.

One small problem I had: Dell service told me the brightness
of the LCD is reduced nearly in half when you run on
battery. It is true. However, I researched this further.
When you start up, press F2, go into DOS, select battery,
and raise it to HIGH. By default it is set at med. Now the
    light is perfect.

One other thing with dell laptops - the auto DC adabter -
get the more expensive one if you plan to use it on trips.
The cheaper DC adapter has very low output and the LCD light
    will be very dim.
