By all means make sure you don't compound the problem by
failing to appear. SHOW UP ON THAT COURT DATE !!! There may
be several options depending upon your current circumstance.
How old are you? What is your past history as it relates to
traffic offenses, is this the only charge that incurred as
the result of this event, criminal history may be a factor
as well. If you meet the age requirements you may be
eligible to be sentenced under the Youth Act if you plea
guilty. If this is the case the record would be esponged
after a period of supervised probation. Otherwise any other
type of plea would be a conviction and would affect points
on your license which may raise your insurance. Another
factor is if there is no past criminal history you may be
eligible for some form of diversion program. There are
several scenarios that may be available to you but your
current situation would be the determinant. Another question
have you been arraigned on the charge(s), if not there has
be an arraignment in which you are officially charge. At
that time you personally can request a copy of discovery
documents, with or without an attorney present.
