    Post: Neighbor Harrassment

    Posted by sandy on 7/15/06

I've lived in my apartment for just over 6 months. My next
door neighbor and I used to get along tremendously until we
discovered there were some discrepancies in the parking
promises by our landlord. There is one unassigned spot that
our landlord told each of us separately that is ours. After
months of disputes regarding it, I finally wrote a letter to
our landlord asking for clarification on that spot and he
said it is for us to share. Fair enough. I proposed to my
neighbor that her and I switch weeks sharing that spot and
she absolutely refused, even blocking in my car for two
days. I park there when I can and try not to make it an
issue. After about 2 weeks of that, she decided to start
messing with my belongings on my balcony - my chair, my
table and my recycling bin. She'd rearrange it daily. At
one point she even put the recycling bin on the ground
level. I've asked her to please stop messing with my
belongings and she states that because they are on "our"
balcony (no part of the balcony touches her apartment) that
she feels she can do what she wants. Tonight she has
stooped to the point of giving out my cell phone number to
random people. I am looking feverishly for a townhome to
buy so I can get away from this woman. But in the meantime,
what are my rights??? If the landlord is refusing to step
in, is this considered harrassment and can I file a
    complaint with the police?
