Post: Mail Tampering

Posted by tenant in MA on 6/07/07
I live in Massachusetts in a 3-family building. The
landlord only has one mailbox on the gate. The mailbox is
not secure. We all bring in the mail. They have opened my
packages and letters, and they sometimes sort the mail in
their rooms and I don't get it till the next day . . . in
one case, I didn't get it for a MONTH, and it was a check.
So this is mail tampering, right? I am trying to get the
postal inspectors to come view it and cite him, but I'm
having trouble with them not getting in touch with me. So
I keep calling the national inspections service and they
keep giving me confirmation numbers and nothing happens.
Is there a way to get the inspectors out to the house?
What can happen to my landlord?
