    Post: Possible mail tampering?

Posted by Jimmy Mireles on 3/22/10

Ok. This is a bit complicated. During the holidays, my
wife, my mother, and myself all got together to send my 11-
year-old daughter a package, with presents. This package
included letters from myself and my wife, and a stocking
that my wife made for her. When it arrived, my ex-wife
opened the package, and went through it. During the
process, the stocking (though not it's contents) and
letters went missing. Christmas day, I called and talked
to my daughter about the package, and asked if it had
arrived, and if she liked her presents. She said she loved
them, but knew nothing about the letters, or the stocking.
When she asked her mom about it, her mom said that she
lost them, in the process of hiding the presents so my
daughter couldn't get into them before Christmas. I'm
wanting to know if what she did was illegal, and if so,
what I can do about it.
