Post: 1ST Time PERSONAL INJURY PARALEGAL

Posted by Francesca Nicole on 4/02/05

Hello everyone. I feel a little out of my element posting
on this board. Recently I accepted a job in a personal
injury law firm as a Personal Injury Paralegal. My
background is in workers' compensation. Although my new
employer knows this, I have been assigned over 80 PI
files. I am a little overwhelmed because when I accepted
the position I was told that there would be a transition
period and that I would slowly be assigned cases. This has
not been the case. After three weeks on the job, my
employers are expecting me to work my cases as if I have
been doing PI forever. I am hesitant about approaching
them about this because it is a great opportunity for me
and I'm afraid that if they realize how little I know they
may discharge me. I would really like to talk to someone
who can explain to me the whole PI arena. Thank you in
    advance for your help.
