Post: WC carrier goes chapter 11

Posted by jack on 4/23/06
I was injured on the job(drywall)in 1999, had surgery(one) attempted to go back to work(same co.) but was laid-off after I couldn,t perform as usual.I have a total of three bad discs now(originally one)& AM IN CONSTANT DAILY PAIN! I filed for comp back in 2001, have seen a company dr. 2x,but recently got notice from state guarantor that the comp. carrier has gone bankrupt, but that i am in line when the assets are liquidated. How does this affect my claim? my lawyer is not talking(probably doesn,t know)does any bright young(or old) lawyer know how this affects a permanent disability claim? It,s been 6 years & living with pain sucks, especially when i hear the nightmare stories of how these insurance co. stick it up your ass, when it comes to fair compensation. i have not worked in "any" capacity since then & recieve social security but have a large family(six of us)& am struggling to hold on.I also have minor heart problems but no prior back history at all.I am 47 years old. Need Advise!
