Post: Job Description Change After Interviewing

Posted by Lynn on 3/05/09
My former boss left our company about a year ago. Recently, my company posted his job via our career site and I applied. My resume was written to mimic the requirements laid out in the job description. I have over 7 years of experience and two individuals to whom I reported interviewed me and gave the hiring manager glowing reviews. However, I was not selected. I found out (through our HR dept) that the hiring manager changed what they were looking for for this particular job, after I had my interview. The person who got the job was a personal friend of the hiring manager and his job qualifications (product management) had nothing to do with the posted job description. Do I have anything legal to stand on about this situation? I think I was over looked because of their relationship and it had nothing to do with my qualifications.
