Post: Lease-breaking fee

Posted by Allen Murphy on 7/30/06
We are in the process of making offers on single-family homes while renting a townhome in Royersford, PA. We approached the management of our townhome complex with our plans when our last home purchase offer appeared that it would be accepted. In spite of giving over 2 months notice of our plans to break the lease, we were told that we would be charged THREE MONTH'S RENT to move out legally before our 1-year lease is up next April (2007). I find this Draconian and I find it hard to believe that it is legal. DO I have any recourse in this situation? Thanks, Allen
