Post: Parking lot accident

Posted by Heidi M. Belanger on 10/08/06

I was involved in an accident last Septemeber where I was
rear ended in a parking lot as I pulled out of my parking
space. A Florida State patrol officer came and did not issue
anyone a ticket or fill out a crash report as the accident
occured in a private parking lot. The owner of the other
vehicle is taking me to civil court for damages, although
his insurance company paid for all his repairs, as it turned
out I did not have insurance at the time, as my husband did
not pay the insurance premium the month before, which I did
    not know at the time.
I live in Florida. What can I expect? Does this guy have any
legal grounds for what he is doing? His insurance company
told him to take me to court-since I suppose there was
nothing they could do. I have insurance now.
