I assume that the person who came to you was from the driver's insurance company who caused the accident. If you want to handle the case on your own you should definitley wait for your doctor to finalize treatment. You should also be cognizant of the statute of limitations for your workers compensation claim and your claim against the responsible party(s), which will limit your ability to file a lawsuit and recover any money from your injuries.
