    Post: Opening someone' private mail

    Posted by Susan on 1/24/08

My son who is 20 was living with his girlfriends parents
when they re-located. He and the girlfriend have a new
daughter. They are on again and off again but maintain a
good relationship for their daughter. She still lives
with her parents, he moved out into his own place and put
in a change of address. They are still getting some of
his mail and the mother of his girlfriend keeps
intentionally opening his mail, he asked her just last
week to not do that. She ignored his request and then
received his bank statement and opened it. He then asked
her again not to open anymore mail in his name or he will
have to turn her in, she said, and I quote, "I dare you to
turn me in" I don't know why not all the mail is being
forwarded to his new address, he has been working on it.
    does he have any recourse?
