Re: Need advice for FOID appeal
Posted by dude on 9/16/08

My first suggestion is to get an attorney. I found one willing to
help me out for $750. You can do it by yourself, but if you're
like me, I really had no idea where to start with all of the legal
    forms.
You basically are petitioning the Circuit Court in the Country in
which you reside - atleast in IL. You have to meet all of the
requirements in that statute such as not being convicted of
    a "forced felony", etc...
I then wrote a petition in my own words as to the circumstances of
my conviction and what I've been up to since then - such as
graduating from college, married, career, volunteer work, church,
etc. You want to show that you will not be a danger to society
and that you have not been in any trouble since your conviction.
Mine was a drug conviction when i was 18 yrs old, 18 years ago.
Hopefully you will have an understanding State's Attorney and
    Judge.
If you have any questions, reply to this post and i will get it
    via email.

    Good luck. Be safe.

    Dude
