I was notified due to tax cuts. My position as Safety
Officer for the City of Mimai Beach HR/Risk Managemnt Dept
is being cut. The City is required since it is self
insured to maintain a full safety program either in house
or outsourced. I have been with them for 14 years/age 51.
3.5 years from retirement. 8 Unclassified employees are in
this boat supposedly. I have no information on their age
or time in service. Or if they have been relocated.

I am concerned since as the safety officer I have
identified numerous major life safety violations and have
been told in the past to lay off or the administration
will write me out of the budget. Low and behold what a
better time to do it than right know. I have emails and
documentation as well as photos of all the building and
code violations as well as the I will write you out of the
budget e-mail. Most have not been repaired of course due
to lack of funds.

Due I have any recourse!

I feel this is retaliatory and perhaps falls under whistle
blower. A newly created HR/Risk position for a younger
female never before in the city is Assistant HR Director
with little or no experience is not sited for budget cuts!
