Post: Labor law

Hey I am a school teacher and I worked at a school dsitrict for two years and have positive reviews that clarify this. Well I just called the records office in the previous school district to try to get them to sign a paper to verify this and they said that they can not because my principal said that I was not hireable when she clearly stated before I left that I was. ALso she stated to the HR person that I had not improved in the areas that she said I needed to improve on. Is there any legal remedy to this problem. What can I do? I feel like she is trying to black ball me when she clearly stated that in the observationsa that I have that they were good. Know she is stating otherwise.
