    You don't say what kind of case it was? Perhaps the Judge
    was doing you a favor, but perhaps not. I too was told to
    settle my case. I asked--why should I pay someone I don't
    owe? The Judge couldn't answer that question. It isn't a
    matter of ethics, it's a matter of law. If you had a bad
    case your lawyer should have told you that you couldn't win.
    That's where it all needs to start. Cases that can't be won
    by law, should never be taken by a lawyer to start with.
