Quite true! As a former Big Firm support staff member, I know of several
former associates of Big Firm Law who stole clients from the Big Firm. MANY,
actually. In the areas of patent law, transactional, corp. litigation,
corporate real estate. When you see your chance, you take it. You take a
chance to escape the rate race to the bottom. Corning, Schlumberger, Sun, I
have seen many formers associates carve out a life free of the billable hours
dictatorship.
