Post: drywall repair and painting contract

Painting contractor provides written estimate that
includes drywall patching. After job is initiated
contractor claims certain drywall repair was not observed
when job was estimated. Is there any way to establish
that the needed drywall repair existed - that is, can
damaged drywall be dated?
