Kibitzer, Thank you for your response. I am thinking of an ABA school. However, I think that my technical background is what is getting me interviews. I am not at all sure that a law degree is going to get me to a better situtation. I really believe that a DL degree is no help to a career in IP because the market (at least in (CA) is saturated with patent attorneys from first and second tier schools. Seems to me that one is more competitive if one has experience as a patent agent and can work independently. I have to admit I am also intimidated by the CA bar. All the best.
