Re: BarBri or MicroMash Bar Review
Posted by Grant McEwen on 2/22/08

I am taking the Texas Bar Exam in February, and I have been going through
MicroMash. I chose MicroMash because I live about 50 miles away from the closest
place they give Bar/Bri. I think that had I lived closer to such a place, I would
have rather taken Bar/Bri because it is more structured. If you are a
procrastinator type, DON'T take this course. But if you can pace yourself and
force yourself to study a little bit more (which is hard, especially if you are
almost done with law school or you have already graduated), and you are a visual
rather than audio learner, then take this course.

I am doing both the MBE and State portions. I feel like I will be very prepared
for the MBE portion because they give you almost 2400 questions to work through,
and very, very few questions testing the exact same point of law. So it is
extremely comprehensive. The state portions are okay, but there are a few glaring
typos. The state materials cover three books, with a fourth book full of practice
questions and model answers, and a fifth book that has practice MPT materials. In
terms of the MBE materials, they have three books: two that cover the 6 subjects
tested, and a third that has condensed outlines that they suggest you go over
before you start answering questions on the software. All in all, you should be
confident if you go with these guys. I'll let you know how I do.
