    The law includes convictions prior to enactment of the law. You
    can argue that it is illegal to make a law like that but that
    argument has been made and rejected. If you have been convicted
    of DV at any time you will not qualify for a firearm permit. That
    is the way the courts see it -- you can find lots of attorneys who
    will take your money to challenge it, but your chances of winning
    are very slim to none.
