Re: Restoring Gun Rights Washington State
Posted by Pete on 3/19/07

My situation happened back in 1997. I was working for an Armed
Security agency, contracted with the Seattle housing authority. An
Ex-girlfriend, broke into the apartment I was sharing with my
current girlfriend at the time. The Ex, started breaking my things,
then attacked me. I took 3 kicks to the groin, before I detained
her,by putting her in handcuffs. My girlfriend called 911, the
police showed. After Identifying my self with ID and badge,
statements were made, I was arrested. 4th Degree assault, because I
left one red mark on her wrists by the cuffs.
At the time this happened, I had just spent 12years in the Army as
an MP. and was going to college for my Criminal Justice degree.
There went my career as a Law enforcement Officer.
Insult to injury came 3 years ago, when my wife and I, went before
the courts to get the case esponged. I had completed all probation,
and paid all fines and court fees. The judge said no problem, case
is hereby sealed. I went to the local shop, bought a new gun, and
24hours later King County called me to let me know I was in illegal
possession of a firearm. That just because the court had sealed my
case, I must go to superior court to get my Firearms privilidges
restored. Of course, you can't just down load these files, and the
cost of a Lawyer is astronomical.
    Can someone help?
