Re: National Arbitration Forum
Posted by Emily on 4/12/07

    Hi,

A friend has been served with a notice from NAF and has already
responded to that notice with a letter explaining why she hasn't
paid the debt that the dispute is over. At this point, we are
trying to ensure that she does not have to proceed with the
arbitration (at least not from the NAF). What is our best
    strategy?

Also, we're not quite sure why her debt collection agency would be
seeking arbitration from NAF, particularly since there doesn't
seem to be much of a dispute, and because she is pretty judgment
proof. Are they trying to avoid paying any attorney's fees they
would have in court? Is it just a scare tactic? Is it to ensure a
favorable and binding judgment in their favor? Or is it all of the
    above.

Thanks so much for any help or thoughts you have on this.

    Emily
