Re: LL.M degree will not get you bar admission

North Carolina & Connecticut will allow bar admission with a non-ABA JD if you have earned a LLM from a ABA approved school. Don't take my word for it, go to the ABA website and download the "Comprehensive Guide to Bar Admission Requirements 2007". http://www.ncbex.org/fileadmin/mediafiles/downloads/Comp_Guide/2007CompGuid e.pdf I have attached the weblink directly it. Hope it doesn't get filtered when I post this. This guide is the single most informative source of information for anyone trying to determine the bar admission standards for each state. >>> On 7/07/06, A real lawyer wrote: >>>> "relevant legal education, such as an LLM degree from >>>> a reputable and qualified law school, and experience that >>>> otherwise qualifies the applicant to take the examination" >>>> >>>> Call the State Bar of Michigan, you will discover 2 things. >>>> >>>> One, an LL.M degree from a reputable an qualifed law school >>>> is an ABA LL.M degree and nothing else is acceptable. >>>> >>>> Second, in addition to the LL.M degree from an ABA approved >>>> law school one must have EXPERIENCE THAT OTHERWISE QUALIFIES >>>> THE APPLICANT TO TAKE THE EXAMINATION. >>>> >>>> Some have taken that to mean previous law practice and admission >>>> to another state. >>>> >>>> >>>> >>>> >>>> On 7/06/06, Joel wrote: >>>>> I hope you are not the same lawyer who didn’t know that you >>>>> could qualify to sit for the California Bar by studying with a >>>>> lawyer at a law or by studying with a Judge in Chambers. >>>>> >>>>> This is what by the Michigan Bar: >>>>> >>>>> Rule 2 Admission by Examination >>>>> >>>>> >>>>> (A) An application must be filed by November 1 for the February >>>>> examination, or March 1 for the July examination.
