Re: LL.M degree will not get you bar admission
Posted by MATU on 2/14/08

Hi Mike (the real mike). Regarding this topic, I just want to be clarified on some
things. Hope you don't mind. First, can a foreign lawyer take the California bar
exams even without getting an LLM degree? I read in the ABA website that in
California, a foreign lawyer can take its bar exams. Did I get it correctly?
Second, based on the internet forum such as this, in NY, VA and Rhode Island, after
taking an LLM degree you can take the bar exams in those states. Is this also correct?
Do you think that taking LLM for foreign lawyers like me could help us pass the bar
    exams?
    Thanks a lot.
