Our state not only requires registration of ALL firearms (hand guns, long guns
including 22 single shot rifles, and even black powder guns) but we must also get a
permit to acquire before a gun can be bought or sold. The permit is issued for a
specific firearm and expires thirty days later if not used. You must get a permit
each time you wish to purchase a gun. Of course a complete background check is done
for each permit. Guns may only be possessed at home or at your work place and with
another permit for time and place for very limited hunting but no hunting with a hand
    gun.

The Illinois FOID sounds very permissive compared to our law. BTW our gun laws are
not expected to be challenged under the new decision.
